Don’t Forget About Dryer Vent Cleaning

Who does dryer vent cleaning? We do!

Just like our vacuum cleaners, car filters, and air filters in our HVAC systems… our dryer vents need cleaning too! Regularly cleaning your dryer vents is the easiest way to avoid mechanical failures — and will also help you to prevent several problems that can creep up on you over time.

The Benefits Of Dryer Vent Cleaning

Prevent fires. Last year, according to the National Fire Protection Association, anywhere from 15,000 to 18,000 structure fires were caused by backed up dryer vents. Something as harmless as static electricity can quickly spark a massive fire, under the right circumstances. It is very important to clean out the lint and debris backed up in your dryer vent to help prevent these fires from growing. Also, overworked dryers that have clogged vents can easily blow a circuit and start an electrical fire.

Extend equipment life. Cleaning your dryer vent regularly will help it last, and prevent a repair or expensive purchase that could have been avoided. A backed-up dryer vent will eventually affect or even destroy the electronics that power it. Keep in mind also that a dryer that is over-working itself will wear out its components more quickly, again accelerating the need for a replacement.

Longer drying times. Ever go to empty the clothes from your dryer and find them still damp? (We hate this!) If you’re encountering this, it means it is time to clean your dryer vent. A dryer with a clogged vent is going to take longer to dry fabrics, resulting in your machine being over-worked. Also, a load that is sitting inside the dryer while still damp is not just annoying; it can also cause unwanted mold buildup.

How Does Dryer Vent Cleaning Work?

  1. Unplug dryer, remove pipe from wall making sure it’s clear from the exhaust, locate and remove dryer cap.
  2. Slide a snake brush while turning clockwise into vent to dislodge and remove any debris. This will remove any blockages in the line as well.
  3. The bends and elbows of the line will be scraped with the snake brush quite thoroughly, as this is where most build-up occurs.
  4. A vacuum is used to clean out all the loose debris and lint from the pipe from both ends.
  5. Dryer pipe is put back in place, dryer is then plugged back in, and ready to go!

For Dryer Vent Cleaning, Trust The Professionals

While it might sound simple to perform on your own, there’s numerous things to consider when cleaning your dryer vents. For example, it’s very important to always remember not to use plastic tubing or soft-foil tubing. Not only can these types of materials cause fires, but they tend to not meet building code requirements.

Because of these and several other factors, we strongly recommend our professional dryer vent cleaning service. Our local technicians will ensure that your cleaning is performed properly and up to code, all with the proper components and piping if necessary.

How Much Does A Dryer Vent Cleaning Cost?

Fortunately, our local dryer vent cleaning service is very affordable and starts at only $165 for vents with ground level access.
